ITV Coronation Street's Daniel star Rob Mallard confuses fans with dramatic change to appearance

It's fair to say Rob Mallard has completely stunned his fans as he debuted a dramatic change to his appearance. The actor, who is best known for playing Daniel Osbourne in Coronation Street, is usually seen rocking a preened look.

But in the ITV soap star's recent Instagram post, Rob's usually light cropped locks are down to his shoulders in ringlets while he appears to have a light beard.

The 29-year-old posted the photo, which also sees him wearing a leather jacket over a grey t-shirt to his thousands of followers on Monday (May 30) without much of a comment. He simply captioned the snap with a wink emoji,

And, as expected, fans were quickly flocking to the comments. @ashleybowden532 wrote: "This can’t be real surely? how do you play your part in Corrie when your hair ain’t that long in it?" @adalonsdale6330 said: "Wow where did that hair come from." @debs8_82 asked: "Is that your real hair!? Thought was short?"

But many were loving it. cazzy.bee said: "Wow, you look different! I like it though." @ciara.lawrence commented: "Wow this a fab look!" @amanda.tyler2004 wrote: "That low-key suits you!!"

Others weren't so sure. @paul.edmonds.351 shared: "You've grown your hair why?" @loubyl74 commented: "Im sorry I don’t like it, you look like Leigh Francis." @obrien8840 wrote: "No no no!!! Take it off right now."

There were also lots of guesses as to what Rob may have done including a wig and extensions while others guessed that he had used a photo app to cheekily alter the photo and trick his adoring fans.

It comes a couple of months after the actor last caused confusion amongst his loyal followers. Back in February, Rob took to Instagram with a bloodied selfie. He shared the black and white photo in a rare post to his thousands of followers and it showed his tresses bouncing around in an edgier, Elvis-inspired style while donning a leather jacket.

But his face looked a bit battered and bruised with cuts to his nose and lips. Luckily, it wasn't real and was all in the name of acting. "Taken when working on @emmerdale," he captioned the post. "Leather is real, bruises are fake. Aged 23," he added.

His followers, however, saw past the cuts and bruises and were surprised to find out he had appeared in the other ITV soap. Rob briefly played a guy named Connor Jenson in the Dales back September 2015 before landing the role of Daniel in Corrie the following year.
