The actors who play Corrie's Billy and Shona looked stunned as their red carpet appearance was gatecrashed, with soap stars past and present reuniting.
Coronation Street's Daniel Brocklebank and Julia Goulding looked stunned as they appeared to have their latest appearance on the red carpet gatecrashed. The soap stars, who play Billy Mayhew and Shona Platt in the ITV soap, kept each other company on a trip to the theatre on Monday night (May 30).
The co-stars and good friends were heading to watch The Play That Goes Wrong at the Palace Theatre Manchester. It was the opening night of the comedy show's week-long stay in the city, which sees its original cast members bringing mischief to the stage once again as they return to the roles they created.
But the mischief had already started before the curtain even went up. As Daniel, who donned a black t-shirt and blazer with some khaki chinos, and Julia, who kept warm in a long black coat under a white jumper and pair of jeans, stood in front of the cameras for photos outside on the latest red carpet in the city, the pair were disrupted from their posing.
In one snap the pair looked surprised to see Trevor, aka actor Rob Falconer, appear in front of them, blocking the awaiting photographers to get their picture-perfect shots. The Corrie actors were then seen laughing as the stage star appeared to speak.
There were also a few other disruptions to the red carpet experience as more of the ITV's soap stars - past and present - made their way into the theatre. Julie and Dan were joined at the opening night by Millie Gibson (Kelly Neelan), Elle Mulvaney (Amy Barlow), and Harriet Bibby (Summer Spellman).
The girls posed separately for the camera, with teen Millie looking glam in an all-cream outfit with her blonde locks curled to perfection. 19-year-old Elle opted for a red lip and black sheer dress for the occasion which she paired with a pair of black chunky boots.
Harriet, who recently celebrated her 25th birthday, also looked super stylish in a black mini-skirt and cropped top under a black and white checked blazer. She added a pair of long black boots and tight to her look before finishing it off with a white across the body bag and her hair also curled.
Kimberly Hart-Simpson, who plays Corrie's Nicky Wheatley, also made the night out following her birthday weekend away. She smiled on the red carpet as she donned a pair of checked trousers and black hoodie under a red Gillet.
Phill Whittaker actor, Jamie Kenna, opted for a grey t-shirt, dark wash jeans and a green over shirt he hit the red carpet with a drizzle of rain starting to appear. Young Corrie star Charlie Wrenshall, who plays Maria's son Liam Connor, was also in attendance.
There was also an appearance from a couple of the soap's former star Ian Puleston-Davies, who played the troubled Owen Armstrong headed to see the show while Corrie icon Julie Hesmondhalgh. known for portraying Hayley Cropper also flashed a huge smile for the camera.
