Coronation Street star Daniel Brocklebank has taken up a role away from the cobbles in the last week. The actor, who is known for playing Billy Mayhew in the ITV soap, landed a new role over on Channel 4 - but Corrie fans need not worry as it's not a permanent move.
Dan headed to join the Countdown team alongside former Corrie co-star Les Dennis, who is currently filling in for Anne Robinson after she left the show as host.
Taking to Instagram to share the news, the soap star posted a snap of his dressing room door, which showed the Countdown logo with his name printed underneath. He told fans: “I’m hugely excited to say that today starts my guest appearance on #Countdown in Dictionary Corner with the rather fabulous Susie Dent and my pal Les Dennis hosting!"

He also shared a photo of him posied in the hot seat on the set of the hit gameshow. Dan, 42, will be back helping Susie with the latest conundrums today, Monday August 8, before the role goes to someone else. But that hasn't stopped his Corrie co-stars cheering him on.
Jamie Kenna, who recently exited the Salford-based soap as Phill Whittaker said: "Oh my god I love this!!!" Samie Longchambon, who is best known for playing Corrie's Maria Windass, also commented: " You will be ace Dan well done!"
And it has impressed his fans and followers too. @rachcreeger said: "Omg this is the news I've been waiting for." @liamfranciscollins commented: "This is class." @lobbingtonfieldsfarmdogarena wrote: "Absolutely bloody fabulous." @hornseabear gushed: "Dictionary Corner has never looked so sexy."

But he was also soon back on social media with a snap from the Corrie cobbles. The actor posed alongside Gareth Pierce and Tony Maudsley, who play undertakers Todd Grimshaw and George Shuttleworth in the ITV soap. The trio could be seen in their characters' clobber ready for a funeral.
Appearing out on location, Dan commented: "I adore these gentleman @garpierce @tonymaudsley1 [heart emoji]. As you can imagine there is absolutely no laughter at all when we’re together…" Gareth was among the first to respond, writing: "Back atcha babez," while former Phill star Jamie said: "That’s your album cover!!"
