Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has jokingly shared his annoyance after his long-time co-star William Roache, also known as Bill, dropped a huge clanger during their recent set interaction.
Jack is famed for playing David Platt in the ITV soap, a role he has held since 2000 after bagging the now famous role as a teenager while Bill is Corrie's longest-serving star having been playing Ken Barlow since the very first episode back in December 1960. But it appears that despite appearing together in the programme for 23 years, Bill can't separate Jack from his character.
Appearing on This Morning on Tuesday (April 18) alongside his Corrie co-star Colson Smith to chat about their podcast's latest live show in Manchester later this year, the pair were shown clips briefly showing their time on the cobbles. Jack was told by Phillip Schofield: "You were very young though."

To which the soap star replied: "Yeah but only the other day though, I've been in the show 23 years now and the other day, I'm in work and I'm walking down the corridor and Bill Roache came in - Ken Barlow - and he's coming in with his little leather bag and I went, 'Hi Bill, you alright?'
"And he went, 'Morning David!'" As Phillip and Rochelle Humes laughed, Jack hilariously dissolved into his seat to show how he felt about being called by his character's name by the soap legend. "23 years he's known me for," the 35-year-old jokingly fumed. "23 years and he went 'David' and I thought, 'really? Is that where we are?'"
He added: "I'm not going to correct him, am I?" Rochelle then replied: "It's a hard thing to get your head [around]. Obviously you know him personally..." but before she could finish her sentence Jack chipped in with faux outrage: "Well I thought I did! I'm not going to say, 'It's Jack!' That's going to destroy his brain."
But it appears Colson had a better anecdote as he turned round live on the ITV daytime show to his co-star and placed his hand on his shoulder before saying: "If it makes you feel any better, he calls me Colin." They then all burst out laughing as Colson, who plays Craig Tinker in the ITV soap, clarified: "Since day one!"
"No he doesn't!" Rochelle replied as Colson echoed Jack comments and said: "I can't say, 'Bill, it's Colson.'" As Jack added: "What are you going to say?"
Last April Corrie was flooded with messages about its legendary star as he marked his 90th birthday. Bill, who has played Barlow patriarch Ken since the very first episode of the ITV soap, celebrated the milestone on April 25, 2022. To mark the special occasion, his family shared new portraits of the soap star taken at the family home in Cheshire by his son, Will. The two images saw Bill smiling and relaxed and Will says they captured his father's "vibrant essence".
The veteran actor said at the time: "Will is really talented, he studied photography when he was younger so he has a lot of technical knowledge but for me it was about how relaxed we all felt. Will set everything up in the conservatory and we were all just chatting and laughing and he knew just when to capture the moment. I can honestly say those are the best photographs I’ve ever had taken."
