Coronation Street fans were left stunned on Monday night as they made what has become a rare spot on the ITV soap.
Gemma and Chesney Brown-Winter and their five kids - Joseph, 10, and two-year-old quadruplets Bryn, Cleo, Carys and Aled - have been the focus of a poverty storyline, with the overwhelmed parents struggling to make ends meet.
Recently, they were heartbroken when it was revealed their eldest son was being bullied at school over his tattered school uniform, because they couldn’t afford to buy him a new one.
He was also teased for his tatty trainers, leaving the youngster upset, as his mum and dad - who are trying to keep a roof over their family’s heads - had no spare cash to buy any more.
But viewers were distracted from the family’s ongoing drama by the appearance of not one, but two of the quads during a scene on Monday.
“Two quads on the sofa! That's twice as many as last week. #Corrie,” one fan tweeted.
“Look! 2 of the lesser spotted quads today!! #Quadwatch #Corrie,” a delighted viewer added, as another wrote: “Another quad! What’s going on? #corrie.”
“Omgggg we’ve seen two of the quads #corrie,” one quipped.
Gemma and Chesney welcomed the quadruplets in 2019, while they were on a trip to Llandudno in Wales, but viewers have been left disappointed to see that in recent months, the kids have been absent from their screens.
Coronation Street producer Iain MacLeod said that the due to the pandemic and restrictions, the quads haven’t been able to be on set as much as they would’ve liked.
“I wish, for many reasons, that there hadn't been a pandemic-related containment of our filming but what that has meant, among other things, is that we haven’t been able to see much of the quads and the children as much as we would have liked,” he told the Manchester Evening News.
Iain admitted that while “we probably still can't see as much of the children as we'd like”, he promised the Brown-Winter would be explored more in the coming months.
“I love that family a lot,” he confessed.
