Coronation Street fans were shocked earlier this month when Stu Carpenter was revealed to be a murderer. Not much was known about the character who first made his appearance in the ITV soap as the homeless man who found vital evidence linking Corey Brent to the horrific murder of Seb Franklin.
With the help of Kelly Neelan, who found herself on the streets after being released from prison after being charged over Seb's death, Stu had settled into life in Weatherfield with a job at Speed Daal and a roof over his head with Yasmeen. Viewers knew that Stu was estranged from his family and previously worked as a chef in the Navy.
And the reason for his lack of family support has now been confirmed when his ex-wife, Lucy, showed up at the restaurant and ordered him to stay away from his daughter, Bernadette, who made a brief appearance last month when Yasmeen helped track her down before she slammed the door in his face.

After seeing him made front and centre of an article in The Gazette, Lucy arrived at Speed Daal and ordererd Stu to stay away from their daughter Bridget before dropping the bombshell secret from Stu’s past as she reminded her ex of Charlie Walter, the young girl he murdered.
As Lucy strode out of the restaurant, Stu protested his innocence, explaining to Yasmeen and Alya that he was wrongly imprisoned for the murder of a young girl. Yasmeen is yet to believe Stu's pleas and his was arrested by Craig Tinker for being in breach of the peace when he showed up at her home.
But in scenes aired on Monday night (August 15), Yasmeen's grandson Zeedan learns from Craig that the detective Stu accused of persecution took early retirement for a spurious reason. Zeedan asked Craig to try and find out more and later, Yasmeen and Zeedan received letters from Stu begging them to visit him in prison but she ripped them up and binned them.
With Craig's new information, Zeedan is clearly unsure about whether Stu really committed murder. And Corrie fans think they have figured out what really happened after initially thinking tha t Stu's daughter could have been the killer. @LilMissMystic tweeted: "Anyone else think that it was Detective Lennox who had an affair with Charlie too and killed her, not Stu? #Corrie."
@Mammy_white commented: "So I’m guessing the retired Chief inspector who Craig’s looking into was also having an affair with the lass who was killed and he framed Stu for it and it will all come out that he was jealous of stu and this lass #corrie." @Crazier predicted: "#Corrie It’ll come to light that the woman that Stu was supposed to have killed was actually killed by the copper that Chief inspector Craigy is looking into, Stu will be exonerated and he and Yazmin will get back together! You heard it hear first!"
But Corrie fans didn't stop there as they also think Audrey Roberts' recently returned son Stephen Reid has something to hide after he was heard using the card of what appeared to be his wife, Gabriella. @niallhoran tweeted: "Did Stephen kill his ex wife??? #corrie." @RugbyJoel shared: "Stephen is the killer... That Stu went down for! #corrie."
