Coronation Street fans were left distracted for more reasons than one as Sean Tully's son Dylan decided to stay in Weatherfield. The character, played by Liam McCheyne, recently returned to the ITV soap following a brief appearance in 2020.
He headed up from London, where he lives with mum Violet, to spend some of the summer holidays with his dad and co on the cobbles. But Dylan appears to have enjoyed spending time with the other half of his family and making new friends through football and told his dad he didn't want to leave.
For Dylan’s last night with him, Sean offered to organise him a dinner. As a surprise, Sean arrived at the bistro to discover Glenda and Mary had invited James Bailey, who plays for Weatherfield County, to Dylan's farewell meal.
But when James suggested a kickabout before dinner, Dylan admitted that he really likes it in Weatherfield and doesn’t want to go home. Sean was worried Violet wouldn't agree for him to stay but luckily for Dylan, Sean made a call to his mum who agreed, making him the newest resident of No.11.
Later, Dylan arrived home with Max Turner and was thrilled to learn that he'd be staying, as was his new pal. But Corrie viewers couldn't help but bring up an age old debate about the size of Eileen's house after she recently welcomed partner George Shuttleworth's sister into her home.
Anne Cawdrey wrote on Facebook: "Eileen lives in the TARDIS!!!!" Gemma Dixon shared: "Those House in Corrie must have some amounts of bedrooms Eileen and Maria after taking someone in no problems tonight lol."
@janetg1703 said: "How many rooms are in that house of Eileen's???? Sure about 6 folk live there." @_clw_90_willerton joked: "Eileen's flat is like Narnia. Where they all sleeping?"
But that wasn't the only thing Corrie found were baffled by as they also couldn't help but mention Dylan's accent. @andyroe67 asked: "How come Dylan has spent all his life in London but has a northern accent??" @southendvictoria307 echoed: "Isn't it peculiar that Dylan was born and raised in London but has a northern accent?"
@soniast94597425 tweeted: "#corrie. I’m not sure that Dylan would have a northern accent when he was brought up in London since he was born. He has only visited Sean very occasionally." @KyleMinge pondered: "If Dylan on Coronation Street has lived in London with his mother Violet all of his life then why does he have a northern accent instead of a London one? #corrie."
@taz_mtn shared: "Has Dylan ever even been to London, why does he have a northern accent? #corrie." @Jennygr55921272 commented: "Am I missing something? Why does Shaun's son have a manchester accent if he was brought up in London? Or wasnt he #Corrie."
