ITV Coronation Street fans 'didn't recognise Gemma' as actress shows off different look to character

Coronation Street star Dolly-Rose Campbell had fans doing a double-take after they 'didn't recognise' her alongside co-stars at a recent awards bash. The actress, who is best known for playing Gemma Winter in the ITV soap after making her debut in 2014, attended the Royal Television Society Awards on Tuesday evening (March 30) alongside Julia Goulding, Mollie Gallagher, Tanisha Gorey and Sally Ann Matthews.

The ladies, who fans of the soap will recognise for playing Shona Platt, Nina Lucas, Asha Alahan, and Jenny Connor, were out at the fancy do, rubbing shoulders with the stars of Hollyoaks, Strictly Come Dancing, and more, as they represented Corrie who was up for the Soap and Continuing Drama gong.

As well as being snapped as they hit the blue carpet prior to the event, pictures were shared of the five-piece enjoying their night on the soap's official social media pages - including Instagram - with the comment: "All scrubbed up for the #RTSAwards!"

The first snap showed the soap actresses smiling for the camera inside the awards do, while another showed on-screen couple Mollie and Tanisha posing together. The pair looked stunning with Mollie donning a hot pink, silk gown with cowl neck detail which she accessorized with a black belt around the waist while sticking to her darker make-up with black lipstick.

Tanisha also looked sensational in a figure-hugging, brown silk dress that featured a thigh-high split which she paired with an open-toed black heel and kept her long dark locks down, styled into curls.

But Corrie fans were distracted as Dolly-Rose, Julia and Sally-Ann held up their knives and forks, suggesting they were ready to tuck into their complimentary meal and that was because of Dolly-Rose who looked gorgeous in a long blue dress with embroidered flower details and let her natural red curls out for the event.

"Gemma looks so different!!!" @ r_caitriona said.

"Gemma! Aka dolly you look so different! Looking beautiful," @kirsty.miller_1985 commented.

Their co-stars were also getting in on the comments. Sally Carman, who plays Abi Franklin, said: "Gorgeous gals!" while Toyah Battersby actress Georgia Taylor wrote: "BEAUTS," with both adding plenty of love-heart eye emojis to their comments.

Colson Smith (Craig TInker) shared: "Oh elllo. What a team," as Kel Allen (Laura Neelan) commented: "Blummin’ gorgeous," with a string of flame emojis.

Sally-Ann also shared one of the snaps of the group to her own Instagram page, commenting: "I’m definitely Old Spice x #rtsawards," with Colson joking: "Nice of them to take you out," and Tanisha writing: "love us."

Kimberly Hart-Simpson, who recently returned to Corrie as Nicky Wheatly, also said "Looking mint ladies."
