ITV Coronation Street fans beg 'please stop' minutes into soap

Coronation Street fans begged for one character to "please stop" on tonight's episode.

Viewers at home cringed with second hand embarrassment as Dev Alahan, played by Jimmi Harkishin, took to the stage during Kelly and Aadi's engagement party. Asha ran outside in horror to let Kelly Neelan and Aadi Alahan know the proud dad was about to make a speech.

They all ran back inside together to see Dev grasping onto the mic. Aadi said: "Dad give that mic back now."

But Dev took no notice of his son as he continued to speak. He said how much he loves and adores his son, but then his attention turned to Kelly.

Dev said: "I love my Son. Now for Kelly, we have had our problems. Like how people have their problems but let me tell you the jury's still out on this one."

Fans at home felt the embarrassment of the youngsters as they took to Twitter. Mike said: "Dev.. please stop #Corrie." Teena said: "Dev needs to stop waffling… #Corrie."

Dave said: "Dev’s speech is making my toes curl #corrie." Another user said: "Someone push Dev off the stage! #corrie."
