Coronation Street fans were quick to point out a blunder during the latest trip to the cobbles which ended in an arrest for one Weatherfield resident. Earlier this week, viewers of the ITV soap were horrified when Summer Spellman was locked in a room at the home of Mike and Esther Hargrave.
As fans know, the teen had agreed to give up her baby to the couple, who were parishioners of Summer's guardian Billy Mayhew, after she fell pregnant with her and her boyfriend Aaron Sandford's baby. The pair accepted money from Mike and Esther in order to fund Aaron's dad's rehab.
However, Summer suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage. But instead of telling the truth, she and Aaron lied to the couple before being found out. Filled with guilt, the 18-year-old agreed to, legally, be their surrogate - much to the disapproval of Billy and her 'other dads' Paul Foreman and Todd Grimshaw.
But concerns were raised when Leanne Battersby told Billy that Mike had flirted with her at the bistro. And then a member of the congregation at Mike and Esther’s old church came forward claiming she had an affair with Mike. Summer was shocked to find out that Mike already had a secret son.
Furious, she headed over to Esther and Mike’s but was horrified when Mike locked her in the nursery without her phone and insulin. He left her there overnight despite her pleas and eventually she was found collapsed on the floor by Mike but didn't phone an ambulance. Suddenly Esther arrived home and demanded to know what was going on. She called an ambulance while Mike gave her a tale about Summer trying to back out of the surrogacy plan and how he detained her in the hope he could change her mind.
Later, after Summer talked to the police and was surrounded by her three dads, Billy joked: "Never a dull moment." And the teen wailed: "I thought I was going to die." In scenes aired during Wednesday night's trip to the cobbles, Summer was seen still recovering in the hospital.
But as Billy left to run a few errands, Mike suddenly appeared from behind the hospital bed curtain. He started to threatened Summer, telling her to retract her statement from the police and that he'll do the same after telling them about the baby lie. Corrie fans, however, were distracted by how Billy didn't spot Mike as he left the ward.
@sofaneilas tweeted: "As if Billy didn’t see Mike when leaving. Do they think we’re thick? #Corrie," alongside a string of crying laughing emojis. @itzzzo_ jokingly replied: "If Billy didn't see Mike where was AGGIE? She sees everything in that place," after the nurse alerted Billy to Summer being in the hospital and telling him Mike and Esther lied about her name to the doctor.
@LilMissMystic said: "Are you trying to tell me that Billy wouldn’t have seen Mike behind the curtains when he walked out of the door? #Corrie." @jeffnewton1 added: "#Corrie So Billy didn't see Mike hiding behind the curtain round the hospital bed ? Should have gone to Specsavers!"
After being caught in the hospital by Paul and Todd, Mike scurried off but not without a hot-headed Paul in pursuit. Back at Mike and Esther's house, Paul shoved Mike when he suggested that Paul's concern for Summer wasn't platonic. But Mike fell to the ground and hit his head. Later, the police arrived on the street looking for Paul but Todd took the blame and was arrested on suspicion of assault.
