ITV Coronation Street confirms horror crash for Toyah and Imran with confirmed arrest in new photos

Things aren't looking good in Weatherfield for newlyweds Toyah and Imran Habeeb as the pair end up in a horror car crash. Coronation Street has released a new set of pictures teasing the dramatic events unfolding in next week's episodes.

As the battle for Alfie intensifies between parents Abi and Imran, residents of the street will face the consequences in an unmissable week which promises chaos and carnage on the cobbles. As viewers know the pair are currently locked in a custody battle over baby son, Alfie.

So far, solicitor Imran, played by Charlie De Melo, has got his way with the judge ordering he and new wife Toyah (Georgia Taylor) take care of the tot who was born weeks early following a one-night stand last year between Imran and Abi.

But in a bid to cement his case, Imran used underhand tactics by hiring paralegal Ben to get evidence former drug addict Abi, played by Sally Carman, is using again, despite her being clean since Alfie's arrival. After setting her up, Imran played right into the courts hands and Abi was left heartbroken.

She has since been trying to prove what Imran is up to but so far to no avail and she has now set a new plan in motion. Later this week, Corrie viewers will see Abi receive two fake passports as she plans to travel to Costa Rica.

However, Kevin admits that he’s never stopped loving her and when Abi admits that she’s leaving tomorrow and taking Alfie with her, she pleads with Kevin to keep her plan a secret. But he tells Debbie about Abi’s crazy plan to abduct Alfie and asserts that he has two choices, tell Imran or hope that she gets away with it. K

Meanwhile, Corrie has teased the dramatic crash, which will air next week with a change to usual transmission times as the soap will air half an hour episodes Monday to Friday at 7.30pm, as fans follow the shocking consequences of the fight for the custody of baby Alfie.

It has been revealed that the shocking week of episodes starts with a flash-forward, with viewers seeing Imran leaving a chilling message for Toyah in which he reveals everything. As we move back and forth, the action centres around a horrific car crash which leaves both Toyah and Imran lying unconscious in the wreckage.

The first look pictures show the pair slumped at the wheel after crashing their car into what looks like a derelict building away from the famous street. Another image shows Imran awake and free from the wreck of the vehicle, trying to help a bloodied Toyah out of the drivers seat.

And with emotions boiling over the stakes are at their highest as Abi, Kevin, Imran and Toyah go head to head. And as questions start to be asked about how the crash happened Abi and Kevin find themselves under suspicion from the police.

Speaking about the "chain of events" which lead to the smash, Toyah actress Georgia Taylor told the Manchester Evening News and other press: "At this point, Toyah still doesn't know that Imran and Ben lied in court. She thinks they genuinely saw Abi doing a drugs deal. Imran has been carrying the weight of this and all the time while Toyah has been so reasonable.

"Arguably he's [Imran] not an out and out villain. He never was a villain. He has made some extremely questionable but he's not a bad person through and through and I'm sure Charlie [De Melo, who plays Imran] would agree with that."

She goes on to explain that Imran gets to a point where he decided to come clean amid Abi's plan to kidnap Alfie and Toyah threatening to go to the police. "There's this battle internally for him [Imran] and what happens is, that starts off a chain of events where we find ourselves in this incredibly dramatic week," she added.

Asked about filming the crash scenes where Imran and Toyah end up trapped in their smashed up car, Georgia said: "It was amazing. It was Charlie's last week, we had a whole week on location which is really rare. We don't go out on location much at all, never mind for a whole week.

"It was mainly Charlie and I and we had brilliant stunt doubles and we had our team but this amazing stunt team, the setup was fabulous." She added: "We just felt like we were doing our own little film for the week. It's Corrie but it feels different."

After calling it a 'privilege' to be part of, Georgia also revealed how she doesn't carry the emotional baggage of the scenes with her home but is 'physically tired'. "They're just long days and you're putting your body through a lot when you're stressed, or you're shouting, or you're crying, or you're angry." She added: "Your body doesn't know you're faking it."
