ITV Britain's Got Talent viewers fuming with judges' final decision

Britain's Got Talent semi-finals continued this week and again fans hit out at the judges. Some BGT followers accused the panel of sending the "only good act" home.

The second live semi-final show aired on Tuesday evening (May 31), and among the line-up of eight hopefuls was Nottingham Panto star Ben Nickless. All battling to impress the judges with their talents, it was Ben along with singing duo Flintz and Taylor and Amber and the Dancing Collies who made it to the final three.

Ben's comedic version of The Greatest Showman's hit song 'This Is Me' saw him scoop the most votes, sending him straight through to Sunday's final to the delight of supporters in Nottingham and across the country. Taking to Twitter one person said: "I’ve been crying with laughter. This man deserves everything. My winner Ben Nickless #Bgt".

Another tweeted: "Now Ben Nickless is talent! #BritainsGotTalent". While a third said: "I struggle to find stand ups funny on #bgt but I absolutely loved Ben Nickless. I laughed the whole way through. The songs and impressions were brilliant."

That left a battle between Flintz and Taylor and Amber and the Dancing Collies. It was now down to the judges' vote to decide which act would got through.

Comedian David Walliams decided to choose the duo as did Alesha Dixon, although that was no surprise as the former Strictly Come Dancing judge used her Golden Buzzer for the singing act during the auditions, wrote the Mirror. Amanda Holden ensured the second spot in the final on Sunday, June 5 went to a deciding vote after she selected Amber and the Dancing Collies to go through.

Music mogul Simon Cowell, who gave glowing feedback to Amber after opening the second live show of the week, when pressed by hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly for a decisive answer, admitted that he would have favoured the dancing act if she had performed with only one dog before putting Flintz and Taylor through.

However, this decision did not go down well with viewers on social media. One person commented: "Poor doggy that Simon said shouldn’t of performed let’s keep him in our prayers tonight." A third user tweeted: "The dog act was literally the only good act tonight." A fourth person wrote on Twitter : "Simon saying she should’ve stuck with 1 dog was just a p**s poor reason because he couldn’t think of a valid one."

Ben and Flintz and Taylor will be joined in Sunday's final by opera singer Maxwell Thorpe and young ventriloquist Jamie Leahey after they secured their places in Monday's opening live semi-final.

  • Tonight, Wednesday, June 1, will see eight more contestants battle it out for two more places in the Britain's Got Talent grand final. The show airs at 8pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
