The Britain's Got Talent judges must have had a powwow before hitting the red carpet in Greater Manchester as they all got the same memo. Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and the show's newest edition Bruno Tonioli were out in force as the auditions for the 2023 series hit Salford.
Show hopefuls will be flocking to The Lowry theatre in a bid to impress the four famous judges and make it through to the next round to be in with a chance of winning £250,000 and a spot at the 2023 Royal Variety Performance.
Simon was seen putting on a very cheery display as he arrived at Britain's Got Talent auditions being held at the theatre on Wednesday (February 8) as he responded to the crowds that had gathered to see the TV stars in person. The music mogul was all smiles for the cameras as he kept his attire as causal as ever in a black jumper and a pair of baggy jeans.
Meanwhile, Bruno, who has signed up to the show to replace David Walliams after quitting Strictly Come Dancing last year, made sure eyes were on him as he rocked a white v-cut top with matching trousers before adding a black blazer that boates unusual leather sleeves.
But it was the ladies who pulled out all the stops. BGT judge and Heart Radio presenter Amanda flashed her tanned legs in a thigh-split red gown which featured a high-neck and long sleeves. And Alesha, meanwhile, ditched her bra in a backless pastel pink jumpsuit which featured cut-outs at the side and oversized shoulder pads.
The show's host Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnely were also on hand to say hello to the gathered crowds and posed for the camera but the duo missed the memo as the judges all had one thing in common - they were sporting a dark pair of sunglasses in varying shapes and sizes. The Geordie duo, however, opted to keep warm by adding an oversized coat to their dark outfits.
The auditions started at The Lowry on Tuesday (February 7) and our reporter Maisie Lawton headed down to chat to those lucky enough to bag a seat inside the auditorium to watch the auditions before they hit TV screens in the spring. Aamanee Kamran and mum Attia Kamran, from Birmingham arrived as early as 8am. to get a glimpse of the action.
Aamanee said: "I'm mainly here to see Ant and Dec! I went to see them last year at the Britain's Got Talent auditions where I saw Alesha Dixon's Golden Buzzer for Flintz and Taylor - it was a very emotional performance and I'd love to witness a similar awe-inspiring story again."
While Roxie Skinner and Shaun Moores from Doncaster were 'gutted' to lose David Walliams, a favourite of theirs. They said: "We have watched the show for years and it's sad that he's gone but we're also intrigued to see how Bruno approaches the audition members.
"It's our first time attending the audition and there is going to be so much we don't get to see on TV - we're excited to watch it back when the episode airs. We definitely hope to see dogs - or all animals! Maybe a good magician? Not where you can see how they performed acts - but one that wows us. We would love to see something we haven't seen before - though we don't know what that is."
Day one of BGT auditions on Tuesday saw a man with a rubik’s cube, a girl in a dancer costume and other variety acts take to the stage. Former Strictly judge Bruno, 67, was confirmed as the ITV show’s new panellist in January following the departure of comedian David.
Bruno has previously joined Amanda, 51, Simon, 63, and Alesha, 44, at the first auditions in The London Palladium in the West End. He told The Sun at the time: “This is the biggest show on British TV, now that I’m here. I mean it. Simon is going to hate that I’ve said that but oh well.
"I have nothing bad to say about Strictly, it changed my life. (But) this is completely different and it’s a completely different sort of judging. The range of this show, you see things that you have no idea are coming."
Last year comedian David, 51, apologised for making “disrespectful comments” about auditioning contestants during breaks in filming the popular show in January 2020.
