ITV Britain's Got Talent duo in audition 'mistake' - and bag Alesha Dixon's Golden Buzzer

The final golden buzzer has finally been chosen on Britain's Got Talent. It was down to Alesha Dixon to choose which act she wanted to see straight through to the talent show's semi-finals and as she hit the shiny buzzer on Saturday night (May 14) she said she'd saved the best until last.

The singer as the only one left to give the reward after Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly gave their seal of approval to magician Keiichi Iwasaki last week. And it was musical duo Flintz & Taylor who got covered in gold confetti this time round.

Flintz, 22, performed his autobiographical track 'Change' while 17-year-old Taylor provided the music on piano. As they took to the stage before their audition, the pair revealed that they had only met in real life on the day of the audition after connecting on Instagram during lockdown.

The audience fell quiet as the pair performed and the London Palladium erupted one their couple of minutes to try and convince the judges of their talents was over. "Everything was so clear and so passionate, I loved hearing your story," Amanda Holden told the musical pair.

David Walliams praised them by commenting; "I really loved that you had something important to say and a lot of people watching this will relate to that, and they'll take a very positive message away from it, which I think is fantastic." While music mogul himself Simon Cowell added: "It was real and I loved that. It was almost like a scene from a great movie. Everything was just brilliant, even when your voice kind of broke with emotion at the end, it was just an absolutely perfect audition in my opinion."

And before hitting the golden buzzer, Alesha told the duo: "Nothing makes me more happy than seeing young musicians. You had something to say Flintz, we've had no-one on the show like you before which is brilliant." and as she got from her seat, she added: "And they say in life, 'Save the best till last!'"

Alesha's backing means the lads have been fast-tracked and will definitely perform in the semi-finals later this month where it will be up to the public to decide who makes it through to the grand final.

But it turns out there may have been a bit of a mistake that led to Flintz and Taylor appeared on stage together. According to the Mirror, the pair had rehearsed in person only once when producers accidentally offered them both microphones before ushering them on to the stage.

Prior to their audition being aired, Flintz, a technical assistant in a dental lab, told the publication: "A week before the audition, I told Taylor to keep it on the down-low but asked if he could help me out with the keys on the piano. He came up with a melody. We had one run-through to sound-check.

"Then the producer asked if we both wanted a microphone, it just happened we came out and introduced ourselves and they thought we were a duo and it just worked.” Taylor added: "I was the unnamed person in the background but everyone liked us as a duo. We clicked as if we had been friends for ages."
