Quiz show favourite, Beat the Chasers returns to ITV on Monday, May 16 but fans have a question on their minds: where is Anne Hegerty? With the announcement of new Chaser, Issa Schultz, viewers are wondering whether The Governess has been replaced. Fear not, we've got all the details on her whereabouts.
First and foremost, fans will be relieved to find out that The Governess has not been permanently replaced. Phew!
The reason for Anne Hegerty's disappearance from Beat the Chasers this time round is due to Covid. Whilst the show was filming, poor Anne contracted Covid-19 and therefore was not permitted to take part. Read more about who is standing in for 'The Governess' here.

Anne's replacement, Issa Schultz, said that he had "chilly shoes" to fill and he's not wrong. Since 2010, The Governess has been tackling contestants in a bid to stop them from winning big money. Anne, 63, is one of the original Chasers and appears alongside Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Paul Sinha, Jenny Ryan and Darragh Ennis. Aside from featuring on the British version of the show, Anne also appears on the Australian version.
Prior to her appearance on The Chase, "Frosty Knickers" (as host Bradley Walsh affectionately calls her) was previously a features writer at the South Wales Argus based in Newport. Anne has made numerous appearances on quiz shows including Mastermind, Fifteen to One, Today's the Day, Eggheads and Brain of Britain. In 2016, she was even ranked as the 55th best quizzer in the whole world.
Although fans will miss Anne on Beat the Chasers, they will see her again on the regular version of The Chase when it returns following the special edition's run.
