ITV axe Bradley Walsh TV series after failing viewing figures

From hosting The Chase every night to his programme with his son, Bradley & Barney Walsh: Breaking Dad, it can feel like Bradley Walsh is always on the TV. However, ITV have axed one of his TV shows after it was not getting enough viewers.

Bradley stars in the main role of Pop Larkin in the ITV show The Larkins, which has now been axed by ITV. The drama will not be returning for a third series.

The spin-off series from Darling Buds of May was given the boot after failing to draw in the ratings and will result in Bradley appearing on our screens less frequently than many viewers have come to expect. The decision has been made to axe the series among rumours of tension on set.

The Larkins last aired in October and November 2022, when rumours flew that cast members were not getting on. Sabrina Bartlett, who played the main character Mariette Larkin, left the programme after just one series due to "reported tensions" with co-star Tok Stephens.

It has also been reported that viewer ratings have struggled since Sabrina left the programme. A source told The Mirror: "The ratings for series two were disappointingly low and cast disagreements on set have been an ongoing problem for the production team."

"Sabrina’s issue with Tok and her decision to leave was a massive problem for the bosses. But there have also been other disagreements." The second series saw a significant drop in viewership, attracting only 2.9 million compared to the 4.8 million from the previous year, totalling a loss of two million viewers.

Bradley Walsh will still be hosting the ITV gameshows The Chase and Blankety Blank and currently his show Bradley & Barney Walsh: Breaking Dad is airing on ITV1. You can keep up to date with the latest TV and showbiz news by signing up to the newsletter here.
