ITV announcer angers The Widow viewers with two awkward Kate Beckinsale blunders

The Widow viewers were angered by two awkward blunders before the series even started.

Hollywood actress Kate Beckinsale starred as Georgia Wells in the thrilling new ITV drama.

Georgia is stunned to see a photo of her husband, who supposedly died in a plane crash, three years after is tragic death.

The eight-episode series kicked off with a bang tonight, but viewers were annoyed before it even began.

The ITV continuity announcer made a series of gaffes when saying Kate Beckinsale's name.

Angry viewers took to Twitter after hearing the blunders on air.

One viewer said: "Do wish that @ITV announcer would stop saying Kate Beckinsdale instead of Beckinsale #TheWidow"

Another added: "@ITV someone tell the continuity announcer that it's Kate Beckinsale not beckinsDale!!! #awks #TheWidow #hessaiditwrongtwice"

A third said: "@ITV #thewidow Please Please PLEASE could your continuity announcer stop referring to actress Kate Beckinsale as Kate Beckinstale. Jeez!"

A fourth agreed: "Do you think the announcer for @ITV could get Kate Beckinsale's name right just once... There is no D in her surname"

The Widow tells the story of Georgia, who has her life turned upside-down with a phone-call in the middle of the night. 

Georgia heads to Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in a bid to uncover the truth about her husband's disappearance.

She has no idea of the extent of the danger she faces as she sets out across the country in pursuit of Will.

The series also stars Game Of Thrones actor Charles Dance, who is looking for answers back in Britain.

The cast also includes Doctor Who star Alex Kingston and Sherlock actress Louise Brealey.

The ITV drama is written by BAFTA nominated screenwriters Harry & Jack Williams, who also brought us Liar and The Missing.
