Whisper it, but Albania achieved what Italy couldn't in Euro 2024 qualifying: winning their group. They did so with a brand of counterattacking football that reflects their coach Sylvinho, whose leftfield appointment has proven inspired. The erstwhile rampaging fullback transformed Albania's fortunes overnight, though his key men, Jasir Asani and Armando Broja, have played very little club football of late.

Italy vs Albania live stream: team news
The Italy squad is almost unrecognisable from the group that marched to Euros glory three years ago, and it’s the spine of the team, comprising Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci and Ciro Immobile, that’s undergone the most drastic surgery.
While Immobile was rarely prolific, he was a constant nuisance at the top of the pitch, which leaves Gianluca Scamacca with big boots to fill.
Sylvinho’s decision to leave Myrto Uzuni, Keidi Bare and, in particular, Sokol Cikalleshi, out of the final Albania squad triggered the first minor grumbles of his otherwise superb tenure, though all will be forgotten if Broja is able to hit the ground running.
While Cikalleshi always worked his socks off, it was due to the goal contributions of the team at large that Albania sealed qualification. Widemen Jasir Asani and Nedim Bajrami are pivotal to their counterpunching style, and when one breaks the other tends to be on hand to apply the finishing touch.
