Italian press tips Newcastle United to sign Inter Milan pair that could cost the club £50m+

Newcastle United have been revealed by an Italian publication to be interested in Inter Milan pairing Hakan Calhanoglu and Denzel Dumfries.

Calciomercato have reported that the Magpies could look to land a double swoop for the duo this summer, with costs said to total just over the £50million mark.

Dumfries move to the Italian giants back in 2020 from PSV whilst Calhanoglu has enjoyed previous spells at Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan.

The Magpies are making it publicly clear their interests in improving the side this summer, with deals for Hugo Ekitike and Sven Botman still said to be in the pipeline.

Inter will of course play in the UEFA Champions League next year following a second place finish in Serie A last season, as Simone Inzaghi's team were tipped to the title by city rivals AC.

Given both players do have two and three years left on their contracts at the San Siro respectively, Inter have in the past been open to departing with their stars given Romelu Lukaku's £100million+ move back to the Premier League with Chelsea last summer.

The futures of Milan Skriniar, Alessandro Bastoni, Nicolo Barella and Lautaro Martinez have all been hot topics in recent weeks too, with some of Europe's other big clubs looking to prize away some of Inter's most valuable assets.

With money seemingly no objective for the Magpies, it is thought the wages of both Calhanoglu and Dumfries will have to be matched or better given Newcastle will not compete in European competitions next season, usually seen as a particularly keen attraction for players looking to move to the Premier League.
