It Takes Two's Zoe Ball to be temporarily replaced by Gethin Jones after missing Radio 2 show over illness

Zoe Ball has pulled out of tonight’s episode of Strictly Come Dancing spin-off It Takes Two due to illness.

The presenter, 48, also missed today’s edition of her Radio 2 breakfast show after falling ill with the flu.

She will be replaced on the BBC One show by former Blue Peter presenter and previous Strictly contestant Gethin Jones, the broadcaster confirmed.

Escape To The Country host Nicki Chapman stood in for Ball on her radio show this morning.

“Gutted to say I’ve been taken down by a nasty bout of flu,” Ball wrote on Twitter. “Huge apologies for missing the R2 Breakfast Show & It Takes Two.

“Thanks to @Nicki_Chapman & @GethincJones for stepping in. Promise to be back ASAP. Sending love to anyone else illin [sic] with this flu, it’s such a stinker.”

Stand-in: Jones will take on hosting duties tonight (BBC)

Jones, 41, regularly appears on It Takes Two as a reporter, catching up with the contestants from their rehearsals at Elstree Studios ahead of the live shows.

The former CBBC star will be joined by contestants Will Bayley and Janette Manrara, Alex Scott and Neil Jones and Dev Griffin and Dianne Buswell during tonight’s episode. Former Strictly professional Ian Waite will also be back for his Waite’s Warm Up segment.

Ball usually presents the spin-off on Wednesdays and Thursdays, while new co-host Rylan Clark-Neal fronts the show on Mondays and Tuesdays. The pair then join forces on Fridays for hour-long special episodes.

It Takes Two airs on BBC One at 5.15pm tonight.
