'It shocks me' Leeds United sent relegation warning as Whites told to not fool themselves

While there has been no sense of Leeds United thinking their season is done and they are safe from relegation, that doesn't seem to be the perception in some circles.

Paul Merson has warned the Whites not to kid themselves that they're not still firmly in a relegation fight. Leeds currently sit five points above the drop zone with six games to play, but could find that gap cut by the time they kick off at Crystal Palace on Monday evening.

Everton, who are four points behind having played a game less, travel to Liverpool this afternoon while Burnley host Wolverhampton Wanderers. It's the Clarets who Merson thinks Leeds need to be aware of, with two games coming up which they could take points from and the Whites facing champions Manchester City after Palace.

“It’s not over yet,” Merson told Sky Sports. “I was quite shocked with (Leeds) fixtures. I look at Everton and I look at Burnley. If Burnley don’t win (against Wolves), then I don’t see them beating Watford. But if they win tomorrow, then I think they beat Watford.

"Then, I think they can be back in a relegation battle, which quite shocks me and it will shock the (Leeds) players. They would have thought ‘oooh. It’s a relief.’. But, at least with this manager, I think he can go and get a result somewhere. Bielsa was just opening it up and taking a chance. They won’t go to Palace and open it up, will they?!"
