The Dallas Cowboys are a national treasure. A true gift that keeps on giving. A franchise that specializes in fun but does so with a heavy does of sadness on the side.
And we’re lucky to have them in our lives.
I mean, did you see what they did yesterday against the 49ers? Did you see that final play that had everybody on their offense spread wide? Well, everyone except for running back Ezekiel Elliott, who for some reason got picked to play the role of center and got steamrolled moments after snapping the ball to Dak Prescott.
I’m not lying when I say that might be the funniest play in the NFL playoff history. It should be replayed for the rest of time. We can’t talk about the NFL playoffs going forward without showing that play.
The jokes and memes that came from that play, a play that failed miserably, were incredible. Sunday night turned into a laughfest all around the country and we have one team to thank for that – Jerry Jones’ team.
It feels like every year we can count on the Cowboys to do something silly in the playoffs that makes everyone laugh and feel better about themselves. I don’t know what we did to deserve this but I’m thankful and grateful for everything the Cowboys give to us almost every January.
But there was more than just that final, hilarious/humiliating play. The hits kept coming after the final whistle.
We had Mike McCarthy acting classless by shoving a cameraman who was just trying to do his job.
And then we had Jerry Jones telling the media that he and the Cowboys were “just sick” over what happened down the stretch of another very winnable playoff game.
Imagine how Elliott must have felt! That poor guy must have been like “I’m sorry, you’re having me do what on this final play? I’M PLAYING CENTER?!”
Each year we all wonder how the Cowboys can one-up their hilarity from the year before and each time they seem to come through in a huge way.
They did exactly that Sunday night in San Francisco and I can’t stop laughing.
Thanks, Jerry!
