A Gateshead pub has been forced to close after losing its roof during Storm Malik.
Station East, which is tucked under the railway bridge in Hills Street at the end of the High Level Bridge, only opened two weeks ago but already it has had to stop serving until further notice after suffering significant damage during the weekend's storms.
Landlords Doug Musgrove and Edward Robson, who took over the tenancy this month and also run The Lane Head in Ryton, said the pub remained open over the weekend until they were made aware of the damage by a railway passenger.

"Somebody had messaged the Facebook page after going past on the train and seeing the damage," Doug said.
The 59-year-old continued: "It was probably damaged on Friday but because you can't see anything from the road, I had to climb up on the roof to look at it.
"There are two big holes in the roof and the rest of it is peeled back like a tin can.
"The insurance company is coming out today and it's going to need scaffolding on the front of the building.
"It's not going to be a two-minute job, put it that way."
Doug believes the cost of repairing the damaged roof will be in the "multi-thousands" and says the pub will be shut until further notice.
The footpath outside is also closed to the public while work is carried out but the pub hopes to be open as soon as possible.
Doug added: "As long as nobody was injured everything is fine [as] you can replace the roof and do everything else."
