'It's only the start!' - Cyriel Dessers opens up on Rangers mood lift

Confident Cyriel Dessers has roared "this is just the start" after Rangers rolled over Livingston 2-0 on their difficult plastic pitch.

It was a fifth domestic win on the bounce and an seventh match without defeat under new manager Philippe Clement.

A nicely timed run and deflection saw Dessers score the opener after James Tavernier missed a first-half penalty. The captain made up for his error by finding the corner when Steven McLean pointed to the spot for the second time later in the game.

And the Nigerian striker is sure his team can build on the fantastic form since the departure of Michael Beale.

He told Sky: "I think everybody can see we have had some good performances and results. I think this is only the start. We will have to keep growing from here and I'm sure we will.

"It's a good win and overall a good period for us these last weeks. We've won all of our games except away in Prague so I think we can be very happy."

Asked to comment on the numerous VAR calls in the game, including a softly disallowed Ross McCausland goal, Dessers admitted he was frustrated for his young teammate.

"I have to see them back," he said. "I trust the referees to get it right.

"It's hard luck, especially for Ross McCausland. He deserves his first goal. He's been really good for us in the games and training.

"We can see his quality so I was hoping he would get his first goal today but it will come very soon for him.
