Kim Kardashian was honoured at the Council of Fashion Designers of America Fashion Awards (CFDA) for her shapewear line on Monday night (November 7).

The Kardashians star, 42, was awarded the first-ever Innovation Award, presented for her shapewear brand SKIMS, and used the moment to call for designers to be inclusive for all body shapes.

SKIMS co-founder and CEO Jens Grede and founding partner and chief product officer Emma Grede also joined Kardashian to receive the inaugural award, which was presented to her by Martha Stewart.

Picking up the honour, the SKKN entrepreneur said: “We have put a strong emphasis since our launch on continuing to shape the industry to embrace size equality and diversity as a fixture and not just a trend and I see so many of you are doing just that.”

Clad in a Dolce & Gabbana PVC gown, the star was supported on the night by her mother, Kris Jenner, as well as her sisters, Khloe Kardashian, Kendall and Kylie Jenner as she accepted her award.

Bradley Cooper, Trevor Noah, Amy Schumer, Christina Ricci, and Kerry Washington were among the presenters on a night when a variety of designers took home trophies and Lenny Kravitz received the CFDA’s Fashion Icon Award.

Last year, Zendaya was the youngest person to win the Icon award while other notable recipients through the years have included Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and Jennifer Lopez.

Aside from Kardashian, Cher made a splash on the night as she surprised the attendees to present stylist Patti Wilson with the Media Award.

Elsewhere, Raul Lopez picked up the Accessories Design award and the honour for American Emerging Designer went to Elena Velez.

Catherine Holstein won the womenswear prize for KHAITE and Emily Adams Bode Aujla picked up menswear designer.

The Board of Trustee’s Award was awarded to the late Virgil Abloh, to recognise his contribution to global fashion through his brand Off-White and his work with Louis Vuitton.

Finally, Law Roach, known for his work with Zendaya, Kerry Washington, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Lewis Hamilton, was honoured with a new award recognising stylists for their work.
