'It's not being a snitch': Olivia Pratt-Korbel's family call for people to 'do the right thing'

Olivia Pratt-Korbel's family has called for people to "do the right thing" after she was fatally shot.

The nine-year-old was killed while she was standing behind her mum, Cheryl, in her home at around 10pm on Monday, August 22. The family has now called on people to not worry about being a "snitch" or a "grass" and pleaded for people to do the "right thing".

In a family tribute sent out via Merseyside Police, they said: "If anyone knows anything, now is the time to speak up. It is not about being a “snitch” or a “grass” it is about finding out who took our baby away from us. PLEASE DO THE RIGHT THING.

"We as a family are eternally grateful for the help and support we have received from people across the world.

"We are also thankful to Merseyside police for the outstanding work and to the staff at Alder Hey and Aintree hospitals.”

The shooting came after two men were chased down Kingsheath Road by a gunman on Monday, with Olivia's mum opening the door to see what had happened. One of the two men forced the door open while trying to escape the gunman, with the shooter then trying to force their way in as well.

The gunman opened fire with the bullet hitting Olivia's mum in the arm before hitting the schoolgirl in the chest. He then went on to shoot the man, who has now been named as Joseph Nee, twice before running away. Nee, 35, was then picked up by a dark-coloured Audi and then taken to hospital, leaving Olivia and her mum Cheryl at the house.

Police arrived and rushed Olivia to Alder Hey before she later died. Merseyside Police confirmed they have since arrested Joseph Nee for breach of his licence and has been recalled to prison. It was also confirmed earlier today that the second target of the gunman has since been identified.
