'It's hard to take' - Conor Coady describes Everton disallowed goal as Goodison Park claim made

Conor Coady described the "incredible" feeling of scoring for Everton at Goodison Park and admitted it was tough to see it later ruled out.

The Blues played out a 0-0 draw against Liverpool in the Merseyside Derby on Saturday in a hectic match which saw chances for both sides. Both Jordan Pickford and Alisson produced a string of saves over the course of the 90 minutes to keep the scores level and send the sides home with a point each.

However, in the second half, Everton did think they had taken the lead when Neal Maupay's cross was tapped in at the back post by Coady. The incident went to the VAR who disallowed the strike for offside, but only after the centre-back had wildly celebrated what he thought was his first goal for his loan side.

The defender did admit that, despite the goal being ruled out, the feeling of scoring at Goodison in such an important game was amazing.

He told Icelandic publication MBL : "Listen it's hard to take. When I've put it in I've had a little look at the linesman and his flag was down, so I thought that might have been it and we might have been away.

"But the feeling was incredible, to score at Goodison Park was absolutely amazing I'll be honest with you. It sounds a bit daft because the goal's been ruled out but it was an incredible feeling.

"The noise from start to finish, the noise when we came in as well was absolutely amazing."

Despite the scoreline, the match was an exciting and vibrant one with chances at either end of the pitch, with both sides having the opportunity to win it. And Coady believes that Everton can take a lot of positives from the performance and keep moving forward with the season.

"I thought it was a game full of chances and a fantastic game of football," he added. "It was a bit hectic as a Merseyside Derby usually is, because both teams wanted to win and were going out to win.

"I'll be honest I thought we were outstanding. I thought the team and the lads were organised and compact. We've got to remember we're coming up against, no matter how much we like to say it, a world class team.

"It was important to nullify that, we've got a fantastic goalkeeper who's world class, and it's important we keep on improving now. I thought we were unlucky not to win the game but we take the positives and move forward."
