On loan Liverpool youngster Tyler Morton has admitted to being frustrated at spending time on the bench for Blackburn Rovers in recent weeks.
But the Wirral-born midfielder is determined to play a leading role for Jon Dahl Tomasson's side during the Championship season's run-in with a play-off spot firmly in their sights.
Rovers are currently fifth in the table, but in recent weeks Morton has found himself as a substitute with boss Tomasson admitting that his young loan star was overused earlier in the season leading to fatigue. But with John Buckley out for the rest of the season, the 20-year-old can now expect a prolonged run in the starting XI as the Lancashire club keeps their Premier League promotion push on track.

Speaking to Lancashire LIVE, Morton said: “The manager has been brilliant, speaks to me a lot and I have to expect it. I’m still learning, I’m getting better week in, week out. It’s going to happen, I know that, I understand I’m not going to play every game and I’m young and coming into it, but my main aim is to play as many [games] as I can and win as many as I can and hopefully I carry on doing that.
“I need to learn, become a professional which I am doing. I’ve been frustrated, if you’re not frustrated then you shouldn’t be a footballer, but I feel like I’ve dealt with it brilliantly and felt like I took my chance.
“It’s football, it’s going to happen, you’re going to have ups and downs and it’s how you take it. I think it takes a lot for you to not be in the squad and then be thrown in. It’s not easy to be told you’re not playing and as players we all know from first-hand experience. I think everyone has dealt with it perfectly.”
Morton has made 40 appearances for Blackburn this season across all competitions on a season-long loan from the Reds. He was handed his Premier League debut by Jurgen Klopp against Arsenal last season and went on to make nine senior appearances for Liverpool during the 2021-22 campaign.
