'It's going to be tight' - Frank Lampard offers injury updates on Everton pair

Everton manager Frank Lampard has given injury updates over Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Andros Townsend ahead of his side’s return to Premier League action against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Boxing Day.

Calvert-Lewin missed Everton’s first 10 games of the season with a knee injury and despite returning to play six matches and score one goal, he was then sidelined for the double header at Bournemouth and went into the World Cup break suffering three separate injuries (hamstring, knee, shoulder).

Lampard said: “Dominic, it’s going to be tight Wolves. He’s going to be training over the next couple of days, trying to push him a bit for match fitness.

“The injury feels good, which is the best news. The last thing I want to do is go too soon with him with match fitness, that’s the question mark over Wolves with Dominic and we’ve got a lot of games coming up.”

Meanwhile, Lampard revealed there will be no imminent return to action for Andros Townsend who has been out with an anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered at former club Crystal Palace in last season’s FA Cup quarter-final. He said: “With Andros, he had a bit of a setback so he’s not going to be ready for these next batch of games.”
