Rebekah Vardy has reignited the “Wagatha Christie” war with Coleen Rooney, branding her “boring” and “publicity-seeking” following her rival’s interview with British Vogue.
The 41-year-old took to Instagram to hit back at 37-year-old Rooney’s interview where she spoke out about their £1.5 million libel case for the first time.
Vardy, married to former England striker Jamie, sued after Rooney dramatically accused her of leaking details of her private life to the press.
The social media drama subsequently sparked a high-profile libel trial - and Vardy was ordered to pay Rooney’s legal costs after losing the case.
In the Vogue interview, Rooney said she found Vardy’s silence since the trial “odd” while reflecting on the “horrible” experience of going to court.
But now Vardy has fired back - posting a bikini picture of herself on holiday with the caption: “Take a chill.”
Mother-of-five Vardy, who is in Portugal with her family, went further in the comments section of her post.
In reply to one comment by a fan that read: “I reckon vogue mag being a superstar n all that.”
Vardy wrote: “Boring now isn’t it.”
Later Vardy joked about Rooney: “Don’t give me publicity I’m private but please give me publicity.”
She added: “What I don’t get why you would want to keep bringing it up. It’s boring now! The public doesn’t care and neither do I. She won that’s the end of it! Be happy, move on… because I know I have.”
In another comment from a fan suggesting Vardy was wrong to take the case to court, the WAG wrote: “[...] I don’t do anything wrong! And I’ll take that to my grave!
“If I had done it believe me I would have flicked the middle finger and said yeah and what!”’
Rooney, the wife of ex-England captain Wayne, first accused Vardy of leaking stories to the press in 2019.
Rooney was dubbed “Wagatha Chrisite” after an elaborate social media sting where she would post false stories about her life, ensuring that only Vardy’s account would see them.
Vardy also hit out at the Rooneys’s marriage in her post, suggesting: “ [I] wouldn’t put up with my husband sleeping with hookers end of! No excuses.”
Rooney addressed her husband’s infidelity in her Vogue interview, admitting their marriage had been a “battle” at times.
