'It's ambitious': Scotland star Lyndon Dykes completes Birmingham City transfer

Scotland striker Lyndon Dykes has joined Birmingham City on a three-year deal after leaving Queens Park Rangers.

The 28-year-old, who scored 37 goals for QPR after joining from Livingston in August 2020, moved for around £1.5million after experiencing limited game this season following an injury which ruled him out of Euro 2024 this summer.

Dykes, who is back to full fitness, is part of Steve Clarke's Scotland squad for upcoming Nations League matches against Poland and Portugal. He has scored nine goals in 36 appearances since debuting for the national team in September 2020.

The aim now is finding the net for Birmingham in EFL League One. The move sees the Australian-born striker take a step down a division, but Dykes believes the transfer will be worth it - knowing the sheer potential of the club.

“The club has a clear aim for where they want to go in the future,” Dykes said after completing the switch to St. Andrew's.

“It is ambitious and that is like myself as a player. I want to get to the top and I am hoping that can be with Birmingham.

“There are quality players here and I can’t wait to get started. It is a top-class club and I want to help it get back to where it belongs and further.”
