'It's a super cool thing!' Welsh singer Hana Lili on supporting Coldplay in Cardiff

Performing in front of thousands of people at the Principality Stadium while supporting an international superstar band may seem daunting to some people. However, Welsh singer-songwriter Hana Lili is ready to take to the stage and support Coldplay in Cardiff. Hana will be the first support act when Coldplay take over the Principality Stadium on Tuesday, June 6 and Wednesday, June 7.

Hana is from Sully and has grown up in Wales with her music influences coming from The Cardigans and Fleetwood Mac. She describes her music as indie pop music and said she is "really excited" to support Coldplay.

She said: “It is awesome, it is really really exciting. One thing I love about Coldplay is that they’ve gotten so many support acts on their tour from the countries that they have been visiting. I think that is a super cool thing, I’m really excited to support them.”

The 23-year-old isn't nervous about performing in front of thousands of people and said when she was contacted by Coldplay to be one of the support acts "it was a yes straightaway". Hana feels most comfortable on stage.

She said: "It is a super exciting opportunity to be on the stage. I feel a lot more comfortable on stage than I do anywhere else, I just escape into that space of being with a band on stage, performing songs and just having fun with it.”

Hana said that being from Wales had a big impact on her identity. She said: “I’ve grown up doing music in Wales… and the wealth of music that we have here is so inspiring. It is a super big part of my identity being Welsh, it means a lot.”

Looking to the future Hana wants to release more music, she said: "I am excited to release new music, that is coming up soon, I’ve been working on that over the past couple of months, so its been fun to develop the sound further and try new things out, more live shows. I’m always super happy when I’m in the studio or writing and going into that zone.”
