The Chicago Bears got some good news along the offensive line, where it appears Lucas Patrick is close to returning to center.
NBC Sports Chicago’s Alex Shapiro shared a video from Wednesday’s practice where Patrick was snapping a football — presumably for the first time since breaking his right thumb back in training camp.
With Patrick back snapping the ball, the assumption is he’s expected to make his debut at center for the Bears in Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans.

Patrick, who has versatility along the interior, has been rotating at right guard with Teven Jenkins through the first two games. Sam Mustipher, who started all 17 games at center for Chicago last season, has been filling in for Patrick since his thumb injury.
While Patrick is back snapping the ball at practice, it’s no guarantee that he will be starting at center on Sunday. But it’s certainly an encouraging sign.
