Update: Nov. 15, 2022
The rumors were true: A new round of Civilization 6 DLC in the form of a leader pass is launching, and quite soon too. Firaxis made the official announcement on the game’s website with a new trailer. The first round of Civilization 6 leader pass DLC releases Nov. 21, 2022, and there’s quite a bit more than just four new leaders on the way.
Wave one’s theme is “great negotiators” and includes:
- Abraham Lincoln (United States)
- Queen Mbande Nzinga (Kongo)
- Sultan Saladin (Arabia)
Future waves will release before March 2023, with packs such as Rulers of Sahara, with Ptolemaic Cleopatra, and Great Builders, including Theodore of the Byzantines.
Owners of the Civilization 6 anthology will get the entire leader pass for no extra charge. Firaxis didn’t announce a price for those who don’t own the anthology edition yet.

Firaxis Games accidentally announced new Civilization 6 DLC, a leader pass bringing back at least four leaders from previous entries in the strategy game series. The leak showed up on the official Civilization 6 website before Firaxis quickly removed it, though naturally, someone on Reddit captured proof that it did, indeed, exist.
Reddit user zegalsp posted a screenshot from the mobile version of Civilization 6’s website and a banner advertising the Civilization 6 leader pass above an image of four leaders not currently in the history game. The banner apparently didn’t let you click on it, but the image was clear enough to show who the leaders are:
- Ramesses the Great of Egypt (Ramesses II)
- Nzinga of Ndongo
- Abraham Lincoln of the United States
- Elizabeth I of England
Previous Civilization 6 DLC usually added new leaders and new civilizations, so the leader pass seems like a way for Firaxis to keep fresh what’s already here. It’s also a notable difference from Civilization 5 and earlier games, which followed a similar pattern and added new civs and leaders together, but usually not more than one leader per civilization.
As for when to expect the Civilization 6 leader pass DLC, we probably won’t have too long to wait for an official announcement since the leak appeared on the game’s website.
