Newcastle United supporters have taken to social media to express their disappointment after Lucas Paqueta equalised for West Ham United. The Hammers midfielder fired a low drive beyond Nick Pope in the first-half to level the scores after Callum Wilson had given Eddie Howe's side the lead.
Fans claim they knew the Brazilian would scored, having been linked with a move to St. James' Park last summer. Paqueta is Bruno Guimaraes' best friend and former team-mate from their time with the national side and with Lyon in Ligue 1.
Despite links to St. James' Park, the Magpies would not make an approach for the playmaker, allowing David Moyes' side to swoop in. There was plenty of speculation linking Paqueta to Tyneside, with the midfielder pictured in a black and white shirt in Guimaraes' garden last year.
