Manchester United's supporters were left to rue what could have been after Moises Caicedo fired Brighton & Hove Albion into a 15th minute lead at the Amex Stadium this teatime.
The midfielder, who attracted interest from United in January last year, fired the Seagulls in front with a long-range effort. The ball sat up nicely for the Ecuadorian and he made no mistake to claim his first Brighton goal.
It was a sweet strike and nothing more than what the home side deserved. They started the game the brighter and were looking to get as many bodies as possible in and around the United penalty area in the early exchanges.

United were hoping to carry the momentum earned from Monday evening's 3-0 win over Brentford into the clash on the south coast but they looked shaky from the off. Therefore, it was no surprise when Caicedo saw his effort beat David de Gea.
Unsurprisingly, Caicedo's early opener sparked a reaction from United's supporters on social media, not least in the sense that he was on the Reds' radar just over a year ago. Below, MEN Sport has taken a close look at what they had to say.
After getting their noses in front, Brighton continued to pose a threat, piling bodies forward. United failed to get going and looked rocked by the early setback.
