On Sunday morning, at least 10 Palestinians lost their lives and 25 others were wounded in Gaza due to Israeli airstrikes. The ceasefire, which was expected to begin, did not materialize as Israeli strikes continued in various parts of the Gaza Strip.
Gaza's civil defense spokesman, Mahmoud Basal, reported that the bombing persisted in Gaza City and the northern regions. The strikes resulted in the deaths of six individuals in the Al-Shaaf neighborhood east of Gaza City, three in the north of Gaza City, and one in Rafah, the southernmost city.
The escalation in violence followed the delay of a ceasefire agreement. Israel insisted that the ceasefire could not proceed until Hamas provided the names of hostages to be released later in the day. Hamas, on the other hand, attributed the delay to 'technical' reasons.
The situation in Gaza remains tense as the conflict between Israel and Hamas shows no signs of immediate resolution. The civilian casualties and injuries highlight the devastating impact of the ongoing violence on the people of Gaza.
