Palestinian health officials have reported that Israeli strikes in the occupied West Bank have resulted in the deaths of five individuals, including the son of a prominent jailed militant. The Israeli military has been conducting extensive raids in the region over the past week, with the stated goal of dismantling militant groups and preventing potential attacks. These actions have raised concerns among Palestinians about the possibility of an escalation of conflict similar to the situation in Gaza.

The recent strikes, which occurred overnight in the town of Tubas in the northern West Bank, claimed the lives of five people, as confirmed by the Palestinian Health Ministry on Thursday. Among the casualties was Mohammed Zubeidi, whose father, Zakaria Zubeidi, gained notoriety as a militant commander during the second Palestinian uprising in the early 2000s. Zakaria Zubeidi was also involved in a high-profile jailbreak in 2021 but was subsequently apprehended and returned to prison shortly after.

The Israeli military has stated that it carried out three airstrikes in Tubas targeting militants who posed a threat to its soldiers. The situation in the West Bank remains tense as these incidents unfold, with both Israeli forces and Palestinian residents on high alert amid the ongoing hostilities.
