Local officials in Gaza have reported that at least 90 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli strike on a school in the Al-Daraj neighborhood of Gaza City. The Al-Tabi’in school was being used as a shelter for displaced Palestinians when it was hit overnight into Saturday.

The Israel Defense Forces confirmed that they targeted the school, claiming it housed Hamas terrorists and served as a command and control center for attacks against Israel. The military stated that precautions were taken to minimize civilian casualties, including the use of precise munitions and intelligence information.

This incident marks the fifth strike on a school in Gaza by the Israeli military in recent days, according to reports. The UN Human Rights Office has expressed concern over the escalating pattern of attacks on schools in Gaza.

Israeli military action in Gaza has resulted in a significant number of casualties, with nearly 40,000 Palestinians killed and over 90,000 injured, according to Gaza's Ministry of Health. The conflict has also led to the displacement of nearly 2 million people in the enclave.

The military offensive was launched in response to attacks by Hamas, which resulted in casualties and abductions in southern Israel. The ongoing violence has caused widespread devastation and loss of life, with hospitals overwhelmed by the influx of wounded individuals.

The recent strike on the Al-Tabi’in school has left many families struggling to identify their loved ones among the casualties. The hospital treating the injured is facing challenges in providing care to those in critical condition, many of whom have suffered amputations and burns.

Palestinian officials have criticized Israel for the lack of warning given to civilians before airstrikes occur, raising concerns about the impact on innocent lives in the conflict zone.
