Five Palestinian journalists were tragically killed in a recent Israeli strike in the Gaza Strip, as reported by the Health Ministry. The strike targeted a group of militants allied with Hamas, who initiated the conflict with an attack in southern Israel on October 7, 2023.
The strike occurred outside the Al-Awda Hospital in the Nuseirat refugee camp, where a vehicle with press markings was hit. The journalists were associated with the local news outlet Al-Quds Today, affiliated with the Islamic Jihad militant group.
Since the beginning of the conflict, more than 130 Palestinian reporters have lost their lives, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists. Israel has restricted access for foreign reporters to Gaza, allowing entry only on military embeds.
