Israeli Strike In Beit Lahiya Results In Multiple Casualties

Smoke rises over Gaza, as seen from Israel's maritime border with Gaza

Reports from Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahiya, northern Gaza, indicate a devastating Israeli strike that has resulted in a large number of casualties. The hospital director, Hussam Abu Safiya, has confirmed that many people have been killed and injured in the attack. Those wounded have been rushed to the hospital, but medical staff and supplies are in short supply, putting the injured at risk of death due to the lack of adequate treatment.

Abu Safiya also mentioned that the hospital surroundings are under bombardment and direct gunfire, further complicating the situation. Gaza Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal echoed the severity of the situation, stating that a significant number of people have been killed and injured, with some still trapped under the rubble.

Residents and journalists in northern Gaza have reported that the airstrikes targeted five houses belonging to different families in the area. The Hamas-run Government Information Office initially reported 73 fatalities from the strike, although this number is yet to be officially verified by the Ministry of Health in Gaza.

Communication and information flow from northern Gaza have been severely impacted in recent days. An internet blackout was confirmed by Paltel, Gaza's primary internet service provider, attributing the blackout to the ongoing military hostilities. The UN has also noted widespread communication and internet disruptions across Gaza City and northern regions, as reported by Philippe Lazzarini, the Commissioner-General of UN Relief and Works Agency.
