A hospital in southern Lebanon was evacuated following an Israeli strike that resulted in nine medical staff members being injured. The Martyr Salah Ghandour Hospital in Bint Jbeil was the target of the strike, which led to an evacuation order from the Israeli military, as reported by the National News Agency of Lebanon (NNA).
The hospital's statement indicated that most of the injured workers were in serious condition. The Israeli military stated that it had targeted a mosque adjacent to the hospital, which it claimed was being used as a Hezbollah command center.
Prior to the strike, the IDF had issued notices to residents and engaged in discussions with key parties in the villages where Hezbollah was allegedly utilizing hospitals for military purposes, in violation of the laws of armed conflict. The military demanded an immediate cessation of any military activities carried out from the hospitals.
Another hospital in southern Lebanon, the Marjayoun Governmental Hospital, was rendered inoperative after Israeli strikes hit close to the facility, according to the hospital director Dr. Mones Kalakish.
Impact on Medical Facilities: The ongoing Israeli bombardment has severely affected Lebanon's health infrastructure. The director-general of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, reported that 37 health facilities had been forced to close in southern Lebanon, with 28 healthcare workers losing their lives in the previous 24 hours alone.
