Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the body of Israeli soldier Oron Shaul was successfully recovered from Gaza by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in a daring Saturday-night mission. This operation took place just hours before a ceasefire agreement with Hamas was scheduled to come into effect.
Shaul had been captured and killed during a battle in Gaza back in July 2014. Another soldier, Lieutenant Hadar Goldin, also lost his life in August 2014, but his body has yet to be located.
In a statement released on Sunday, Netanyahu expressed determination, stating, 'We will not rest until we complete the mission of bringing Hadar Goldin home as well.' He went on to commend the Shin Bet domestic intelligence agency and the IDF for their resourcefulness and bravery in carrying out the successful recovery of Oron Shaul's body.
Netanyahu further emphasized the government's commitment to the return of all Israeli hostages, whether they are still alive or have fallen in the line of duty. The Prime Minister's words underscore the ongoing efforts to ensure the safe return of all Israeli soldiers and citizens who may be held captive.
