On Friday, hundreds of armed Israeli settlers carried out a violent attack on a village in the occupied West Bank, resulting in significant damage and casualties. The incident took place in the village of Al-Mughayyir, east of Ramallah, where several homes and cars were set on fire by the settlers.
According to Palestinian officials, at least one Palestinian man was killed by gunfire during the attack, and around 25 others were injured. This attack is one of the largest by settlers this year, reminiscent of similar incidents in the past.
The settlers reportedly stormed the village in search of a missing Israeli teenager, with an estimated 1,000 to 1,200 settlers surrounding the area. Approximately 500 settlers entered the village, blocking roads and launching a violent rampage that included raiding homes, firing guns at residents, and stealing livestock.
Despite the presence of Israeli security forces, the settlers were not stopped from their actions. Palestinian officials alleged that the military did not intervene to prevent the attack, and even hindered ambulance access to the injured.
The Israeli Defense Forces stated that the incident followed violent riots in the area and that they attempted to disperse the crowds. The IDF confirmed that clashes occurred between soldiers and settlers, resulting in injuries on both sides.
Medical teams from the Palestinian Red Crescent responded to the scene, treating the wounded and transporting them to hospitals. The attack has raised tensions in the region, with concerns about further violence and retaliation.
Efforts were made to locate the missing teenager, who was last seen near an Israeli settlement close to the village. The IDF conducted search operations with the assistance of special forces and police units.
