According to reports from the Gaza Ministry of Health, approximately 70 health care workers were detained during an Israeli raid on Nasser Hospital in Gaza. The Nasser Hospital, the largest functioning medical facility in Gaza, has been rendered incapable of treating patients following the Israeli offensive. The World Health Organization confirmed that the hospital is now unable to provide medical care to patients.
The recent Israeli airstrikes in central Gaza have resulted in a death toll of at least 68 people, as reported by Al Aqsa Martyrs Hospital. The strikes targeted multiple neighborhoods within the enclave, with Israel claiming to have successfully hit Hamas targets and eliminated more than 10 Hamas militants in the area.
Israeli forces are said to still be present within Nasser Hospital, where they carried out a search operation for alleged deceased hostages based on credible intelligence. However, the search has yet to yield any bodies of the supposed hostages, although weapons were reportedly discovered at the hospital.
The Gaza Ministry of Health has highlighted the dire consequences of the Israeli military operation, stating that Nasser Hospital is now completely non-operational. With only about 25 medical staff members remaining, critical care cases can no longer be handled at the second largest hospital in Gaza. Compounding the situation, electricity to the hospital complex has been cut off, and 70 healthcare workers have been arrested.
Further military actions in southern and central Gaza have also been reported, with heavy Israeli airstrikes causing casualties and fatalities. Health authorities in Rafah in southern Gaza reported at least 13 casualties, while Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in central Gaza confirmed the death of at least 68 individuals. The Israeli military has claimed responsibility for the elimination of Hamas militants in both southern and central Gaza.
The ongoing military operations in Gaza have left residents in a precarious situation, with the potential for further escalations looming, particularly in the southern city of Rafah.
