Israeli President Isaac Herzog will travel to the United Arab Emirates on Jan. 30-31, his office said on Tuesday.

"We have the privilege of making history by making the first visit of an Israeli president to the United Arab Emirates. This important visit comes as the Israeli and Emirati nations are busy laying the foundations of a new shared future," Herzog said in a statement.

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett visited the UAE in December.

During the two-day visit, Herzog is scheduled to meet with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and other senior UAE officials as well as representatives of the local Jewish community.

Later, the Israeli President will visit Dubai, where he will hold talks with its ruler, Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, and will also inaugurate Israel’s national day at Dubai Expo 2020.

“I believe that our bold new partnership will transform the Middle East and inspire the whole region. We are a peace-loving nation, and together we will expand the historic circle of peace of the Abraham Accords and create a better, more tolerant, and safer world for our children,” Herzog said.

Israel and the UAE forged ties in the United States-brokered Abraham Accords on August 13, 2020.
