Israeli President Isaac Herzog is scheduled to deliver a eulogy at the funeral of American-Israeli hostage Hersh Goldberg-Polin, set to take place in Jerusalem. The Goldberg-Polin family extended an invitation to Herzog, who confirmed his attendance and intention to speak at the funeral, as per a statement from his office.
A large gathering of mourners has assembled outside the Har Hamenuchot cemetery in Jerusalem, where Goldberg-Polin will be laid to rest. The somber occasion has drawn significant attention and support from the community.

Goldberg-Polin found himself in a harrowing situation during the Nova music festival in southern Israel on October 7. Along with other attendees, he sought refuge in a bomb shelter as Hamas militants launched grenades into the bunker. In a brave act of selflessness, Goldberg-Polin attempted to remove the grenades from the shelter, resulting in a severe injury that led to the loss of his arm from the elbow down, as recounted by a close friend.
