The Israeli military conducted a strike in the Tulkarem area of the West Bank, resulting in the deaths of at least seven militants, including a senior Palestinian Islamic Jihad operative named Ghaith Radwan. Radwan was described as a key operative in the Palestinian Islamic Jihad operation in Tulkarem. The Al-Quds Brigades, the group's military wing, confirmed Radwan's death, noting his leadership role in the Tulkarem Battalion.
Additionally, the strike targeted members of Hamas, with one of its commanders, Zahi Yaser Oufi, among the eight individuals killed. Israel identified Oufi as the leader of Hamas' network in the Tulkarem area. The Israeli military alleged that the militants killed in the strike were gathering to carry out a terror attack against Israel in the near future.
The Palestinian health ministry reported that at least 18 people lost their lives in the strike, raising concerns about civilian casualties. Germany, a staunch ally of Israel, expressed shock at the high number of civilian victims. The German Foreign Office emphasized the importance of protecting civilians in the West Bank, stating that both Palestinians and Israelis have the right to live in safety.
