Israeli Military Strikes Hezbollah Targets In Lebanon After Iran Attack

Smoke rises following what the Israeli armed forces say was an air strike on Hezbollah targets at a location given as Lebanon

On Sunday, the Israeli military launched a series of airstrikes on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon in response to Iran's missile and drone attacks. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) targeted a Hezbollah weapons manufacturing facility and other locations in southern Lebanon.

The IDF confirmed the airstrikes, stating that they hit military structures in a complex belonging to Hezbollah's Radwan Forces in Jbaa, as well as in Khiam and Kfarkela. The strikes were part of Israel's response to the recent escalation of tensions in the region.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had previously warned of a retaliatory response to any Iranian aggression. However, Israel has not directly targeted Iran following the recent attacks, and its future actions remain uncertain.

Despite calls for retaliation, President Biden reportedly advised Israel against further military action, citing the effectiveness of Israel's air defenses in intercepting the majority of Iran's missiles and drones during the previous attack. Biden reiterated U.S. support for Israel in a phone call with Netanyahu.

The situation in the region remains tense as Israel and Iran navigate their next steps in the aftermath of the recent hostilities. The international community is closely monitoring the developments and urging restraint to prevent further escalation of the conflict.
