Israeli Military Prepares For Possible Terror Attacks By Hamas

Israeli military personnel drive near the Israel-Gaza border

The Israeli military is on high alert as it prepares for potential terror attacks by Hamas to commemorate the anniversary of the October 7, 2023, attacks. Lt. Col. Nadav Shoshani, the international spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces, informed the press that extra security measures would be implemented across the country on Monday in anticipation of any threats.

Shoshani emphasized that Hamas has a history of carrying out attacks on significant dates and that Israel is taking proactive steps to counter any potential threats. He mentioned that Hamas had launched rockets from Gaza into southern Israel the day before the anniversary, underscoring the ongoing security challenges faced by the region.

Regarding Hamas' rocket capabilities, Shoshani noted a significant decrease in the number of rockets fired compared to previous levels. While Hamas and Hezbollah possess substantial rocket arsenals, Israel has made progress in reducing the frequency of rocket attacks from Gaza into Israeli territory.

Israel's military has initiated a new ground operation in northern Gaza, specifically targeting the area of Jabalya, where signs of Hamas rebuilding activities have been observed. Despite previous conflicts and extensive strikes in the region, Hamas has shown resilience in its efforts to regroup and pose a threat to Israeli security.

In response to the new operation, Israel is facilitating the evacuation of civilians by opening two designated routes for those seeking to flee the affected area. The military's actions underscore the ongoing tensions and security challenges faced by both Israel and Gaza, highlighting the need for continued vigilance and preparedness.
